Experience
-
Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC)
Studio Technical Operator-Intern - April 2023-August 2023 -
As an intern in the Transmission Department, I acquired a vast amount of knowledge regarding the technical aspects of broadcasting. One of my primary responsibilities was sound mixing, which enabled me to become proficient in balancing audio levels and effectively troubleshooting any issues that arose during live broadcasts. Another vital task was vision mixing, which involved seamlessly switching between multiple camera angles to provide viewers with an optimal viewing experience. My internship also encompassed lighting and CCU (camera control unit), both being crucial components ensuring that on-air talent looked their best whilst all shots were appropriately framed. TR (video transmission) proved to be the most challenging aspect of my role as it required overseeing video signal transmissions from Kbc studio to various distribution outlets worldwide. Lastly, graphics played a pivotal role in enhancing our broadcasts and keeping viewers engaged; as an intern, I had opportunities such as creating lower thirds, full-screen graphics while designing other visual elements conveying important information for our audience’s benefit.
