Who we are

Kibo School is a new online university for students who solve problems with tech. We’re building an online university to provide high-quality degrees to the workforce of the future. We combine the flexibility of self-paced learning with an engaging community of tutors and peers to unlock deeper knowledge acquisition, motivation, and accountability.

Application deadline: April 1, 2024
Payment: US$150 per month
Start date: May 1, 2024
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Kenya (role is remote, but you must reside in Kenya to qualify)
Role type: Part-time (3 days, 24 hours per week)

As an Automation Assistant Trainee, you’ll embark on a comprehensive 6-month training program designed to equip you with the knowledge and expertise needed to master no-code/low-code tools. This program will give you the skills needed to excel as a no-code/low-code expert, a role that is in high demand across various industries.

You’ll be immersed in hands-on projects that provide insights into the world of automation. By the end of this program, you’ll possess a thorough understanding of these tools and a deep sense of readiness to contribute meaningfully to organizations seeking the services of no-code/low-code experts.

Collaborating closely with our Data and Operations team, you’ll have the chance to witness the real-world applications of your training. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining exposure to technologies and refining your problem-solving capabilities.

What you will do

  • Use no-code/low-code automation tools like Airtable, Zapier, and Make (formerly Integromat) to automate and streamline business operations.
  • Collaborate with different teams to understand their specific needs and challenges. You’ll then find creative ways to address these needs.
  • Participate in the constant improvement of processes to become more efficient.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for the automated processes you design. This documentation will serve as a resource for team members to understand and follow these processes.

Who you are

  • Excellent written and oral communicator: as a remote-first, globally distributed startup, we spend a lot of time communicating in writing and documenting our processes. Thus, clear, structured, and well-organized writing is a must. In addition, strong oral communication skills are essential for effective collaboration within teams and when interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills: advanced proficiency in basic computer applications, ability to dissect complex problems, derive meaningful insights, and formulate well-reasoned conclusions.
  • Enthusiastic and fast learner: you are a confident learner who is not afraid to learn new tools and technologies. You’re eager to learn to use no-code tools to automate processes.
  • Organized, operations-savvy, and detail-oriented: you have strong attention to detail and can prioritize and deliver on plans. You can manage multiple projects without sacrificing accuracy and quality.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student in their final two years of study at a post-secondary institution of higher learning (e.g., university, polytechnic) in Kenya.
  • Only students in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0 or 3.0/5.0 and above are eligible to apply. If your cumulative GPA drops below the requirement after a term, you can no longer continue working for Kibo.
  • To ensure that Automation Assistants can allocate the requisite time, only students without substantial employment, or other commitments outside of their studies from the start date, May 1, 2024, are eligible. In particular, you cannot do this role if you have another job or other significant commitments. This opportunity is most suited for individuals with the flexibility to commit to 8 hours daily, 3 days a week.
  • For Kenyans: You are required to have a valid National Identification Number and a KRA PIN (for tax purposes). You are advised to have these ready when you begin your application. You will not be hired without a valid KRA PIN.

Because this is a 100% remote role, a fully-operating personal laptop on which to work is required. The minimum laptop requirements are:

  • At least a 1.5GHz processor or faster
  • At least 8GB of Random Access Memory (RAM)
  • At least 64GB of Solid State Drive (SSD) Storage
  • A fully-functioning keyboard and screen and a battery that holds a charge
  • Built-in or external speakers (hard-wired or Bluetooth speakers are acceptable)
  • Built-in or external webcam
  • High-speed internet connection with minimum upload and download speeds of 10Mbps
  • Windows 10 or later, MacOS 10.15 or later, or a recent (last two years) version of Linux. ChromeOS is not supported
