The New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union Public Limited Company (NKPCU Plc) was established under the State Corporations Act Cap 446 Laws of Kenya under the Ministry of Cooperatives Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development. It is mandated to Mill, Warehouse and Market coffee, Optimize the assets of the Company and Administration of the Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund.

The Company wishes to recruit results oriented Kenyan citizens with drive, vision, and creativity to fill positions in Nairobi and branch offices to ensure delivery of its mandates.

MACHINE OPERATOR NK.9 – (4) POSTS

Grade: Machine Operator NK.9 – (4) Posts
Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable
Basic Salary: Kshs. 36,530 (Minimum) – Kshs. 53,076 (maximum)
Other remunerations: Based on prevailing Government guidelines
Reporting to Senior Machine operator

Duties and Responsibilities

(i) Performing necessary pre-operation checks to ensure milling machine are in good condition;
(ii) Adhering to the milling plant operating procedures;
(iii) Start the machine and adjust when necessary to improve performance;
(iv) Monitoring the parchment on the de-stoner component by adjusting the inclination of the table deck;
(v) Monitoring and adjusting parchment feed rate and sliding the weight accordingly;
(vi) Adjusting the flow rate of the coffee parchment into the pre-cleaner and destoner milling components;
(vii) Verifying the rate of coffee husks disposal and adjust the machine fan accordingly;
(viii) Checking and ensuring change over gate valve are in the right position;
(ix) Ensuring coffee grade storage tanks change over gates are always locked and opened only when milled coffee is getting to Gravity table component;
(x) Operating and monitoring the milling plant ensuring quality production;
(xi) Using the control panel ammeter on monitoring the machine load;
(xii) Ensuring continuous production of quality coffee by minimizing defects along the production line;
(xiii) Ensuring no spillage along the milling plant line;
(xiv) Maintaining the milling plant after completing the milling process; and
(xv) Troubleshooting milling process and recommending immediate maintenance.

Requirements

(i) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), mean Grade D+ (plus) or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
(ii) Suitability Test for Plant Operator Grade III, II, I from a recognized institution;
(iii) Occupational Trade Tests III/ II/I for Plant Operators from a recognized institution;
(iv) First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week from a recognized institution;
(v) Proficiency in computer application skills; and
(vi) National Police Clearance Certificate.
(vii) An Applicant with at least two (2) years’ experience in similar position will have an added advantage
