Mechanical Engineer

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, Cap. 117, whose mandate is to implement government housing policies and Programmes. The Corporation is seeking to recruit results driven and highly motivated individuals to fill the positions below.

Engineer Mechanical – NHC/72/2024

NHC Job Grade: 7

Job Specification:

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail assisting in:

1. Participating in feasibility study and planning for housing and infrastructure projects;
2. Preparing engineering designs, technical specifications and drawings;
3. Seeking and obtaining County and statutory approvals for engineering designs and drawings;
4. Preparing tender and contract documentation for engineering aspects;
5. Participate in evaluation of contractual claims;
6. Liaison with necessary agencies/authorities for inspections and approvals of engineering aspects;
7. Participating in the tendering processes of housing and infrastructure projects;
8. Supervise construction of housing and infrastructure projects to ensure quality and adherence to specification with respect to engineering aspects;
9. Undertake stakeholder engagement for infrastructure projects and matters;
10. Initiate collaboration with project enablers such as utility and service providers;
11. Appraisal and Certification of completed engineering works and issue necessary certificates;
12. Prepare documents required to seek and obtain certificate of occupation;
13. Ensure proper custody of all project designs, drawings and standard operation manuals;
14. Participate in research on housing and infrastructure designs, technology and materials;
15. Preparing material schedules and labour costs for maintenance works in liaison with Estates Directorate;
16. Guide Engineering Assistant in execution of engineering duties.

Person Specification:

1. Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
2. Proficiency in computer applications; and
3. Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.

Terms of Service and Remuneration

1. The appointment to positions in Grades 4 to 12 will be on permanent and pensionable basis.
2. Successful candidates will be offered competitive remuneration package in accordance with the Corporations Salary Structure
