CAD Designer Internship

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design and drafting of light gauge roof structures and roofing systems using CAD software.
• Support the development of detailed technical drawings for roofing systems, ensuring compliance with building codes and project specifications.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure roofing system designs are efficient and structurally sound.
• Facilitate the explanation of technical drawings and design concepts to customers, helping them understand how the roofing system will meet their needs.
• Work with the sales team to communicate design specifications and technical details to clients in a clear, concise manner.
• Help prepare proposals, material lists, and project documentation for client presentations.
• Assist with customer inquiries and provide basic technical support related to roofing system designs.
• Participate in sales meetings and discussions to understand customer requirements and assist in customizing designs to fit their needs.
• Provide support in generating cost estimates and material take-offs for project proposals.
• Maintain and organize project files and CAD drawings, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
• Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and new materials used in light gauge roofing systems.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
• Basic understanding of roofing systems, light gauge structures, and related building materials.
• Knowledge of drafting standards and building codes, specifically related to roofing systems, is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to spot discrepancies in technical drawings.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• A strong desire to learn and gain experience in structural and roofing design.
• Previous experience or course work in roofing systems or structural design is a plus, but not required.
