Role Summary
The Graduate Associate Internship offers an exciting entry point for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in government advisory and public sector delivery. Graduate Associates will work closely with project teams at the Tony Blair Institute (TBI) Kenya contributing to real-time problem solving, strategy, policy and delivery work that supports the Government on its most critical development priorities.
The role is designed as both a professional learning experience and a value-adding position supporting client facing projects. The Graduate Associate will assist in research, analytics, implementation tracking, and stakeholder engagement, while receiving mentoring and exposure to high-impact government reform work.
The position is full-time and for Nationals only with a minimum duration of six-months and based in Kenya. The role starts as soon as possible on the identification of a suitable candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of senior team members, the Graduate Associate Intern will:
- Support project teams in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, policy analysis, and synthesising information for internal and external use
- Assist in the preparation of high-quality presentations, reports, briefing notes, and dashboards for government counterparts
- Participate in the design and tracking of implementation plans and delivery routines (e.g., stocktakes, progress reviews)
- Help consolidate lessons learned and success stories for knowledge-sharing within the team and across the Institute
- Support stakeholder coordination efforts, including meeting preparation, note-taking, and follow-up tracking
- Contribute to regular internal updates and team reflections on project performance, risks, and opportunities
Person Specification
We are seeking intellectually curious, motivated, and mission-driven individuals who are eager to learn and make a meaningful contribution.
- Recent graduate (within the last 12 months) or final-year student in Public Policy, Economics, Political Science, International Development, Engineering, or related field
- Strong academic performance and a demonstrated interest in public service, consulting, policy, or international development
- Prior internship or project experience in research, analysis, or problem-solving is an added advantage
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High level of organisation and attention to detail
- Confidence using Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- A team player with humility, curiosity, and a can-do attitude
- Fluent in English
