Nutrition Intern

AGRA is an African-led institution that actively supports the drive towards inclusive agricultural transformation and sustainable food systems. We do this by empowering the continent’s 33 million small-farming households to transform their agriculture from a struggle to survive to profitable businesses. The continent’s farmers regularly face challenges, and we aspire to provide uniquely African solutions that respond to their agricultural and environmental challenges, leading to increased harvests for reduced hunger and more income.

AGRA is committed to strengthening the role of nutrition in agricultural investments to ensure sustainable food systems that promote dietary diversity and healthy diets. AGRA is integrating nutrition-sensitive interventions into its strategic programs and investments, emphasizing nutrition security outcomes. The 2025 GYI-Nutrition workplan spells out 4 intervention areas with several activities under each area, all aimed at advancing AGRA’s work in Nutrition. Cognizant of the demands of this work on one person who works on Nutrition, the GYI directorate aims to enhance performance and delivery of the 2025 workplan for nutrition through engaging extra man hours through engaging an intern.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1.Institutional Capacity Building

• Assist in the rollout and operationalization of AGRA’s Nutrition Strategy.
• Support the socialization and adoption of the Nutrition Strategy across business units and country teams.
• Provide support in conducting country-level meetings and consultations to review and integrate nutrition priorities.
• Help develop value chain-specific webinars to support technical leads and grantees.

2. Coordination of Meetings and Engagements

• Assist in planning and coordinating AGRA’s internal nutrition meetings.
• Support stakeholder discussions through networking events, one-on-one meetings, and roundtable discussions.
• Take notes and prepare reports from high-level meetings and workshops.
• Assist in designing and developing nutrition awareness campaigns and materials.

3. Resource Mobilization Strategy Implementation

• Assist in identifying and tracking funding opportunities for nutrition programs.
• Support the Lead-Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture in the development of funding proposals and donor engagement materials.
• Help maintain and update a database of donors and funding partners.
• Assist in organizing networking events to engage potential funders and investors.
• Support the coordination of a virtual webinar on Nutrition in AGRA targeting external partners.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Recent graduate with a degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
• Strong interest in resource mobilization, stakeholder engagement, and nutrition strategy operationalization.
• Experience in research, writing, and documentation.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
