Regen Organics is an award-winning social venture based in Nairobi, Kenya. We implement a circular\u00a0economy model to sustainably manage sanitation and organic waste generated in cities. Using technologies\u00a0developed in-house, we upcycle the waste into insect-based protein for animal feed, organic fertilizer, and\u00a0biomass fuel. We operate the largest organics recycling plant in East Africa.<\/p>\n

Operational since 2011, Sanergy collects and treats over 50,000T of residual organics per year, and\u00a0successfully sells its Agri-inputs to farmers in over 40 counties in Kenya, who see improved yields and\u00a0increased incomes. Our work is pioneering climate action in Africa - we offset nearly 50,000T of carbon per\u00a0year and we have big expansion plans to scale this impact. Our goal is to expand across Africa and Asia,\u00a0safely processing 1,000,000T a year of waste and more than 1,000,000T of carbon emissions offsets per\u00a0year in the next decade.<\/p>\n

Job Purpose Statement:<\/h4>\n

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our Finance team. This role is ideal\u00a0for someone with foundational knowledge in accounting who is eager to gain hands-on experience in core\u00a0finance processes and internal controls. You will work closely with the team to support key activities such as\u00a0bank reconciliations, system hygiene checks, and trial balance reviews.<\/p>\n

Key Duties and Responsibilities:<\/h4>\n
    \n
  1. Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between bank statements and system records.<\/li>\n
  2. Conduct weekly system hygiene checks, including:\n
      \n
    • Verifying that all bills are correctly posted.<\/li>\n
    • Ensuring that payments are accurately matched to the corresponding bills.<\/li>\n
    • Checking the correctness of journal entries created in the system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Carry out monthly hygiene checks on the Trial Balance (TB) to ensure the accuracy and\u00a0completeness of financial data.<\/li>\n
    • Provide general accounting support, including data entry, filing, and assisting with financial reports.<\/li>\n
    • Support the finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Qualifications and Skills:<\/h4>\n
        \n
      • Ongoing or completed studies in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.<\/li>\n
      • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.<\/li>\n
      • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.<\/li>\n
      • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.<\/li>\n
      • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., Odoo, QuickBooks, SAP) is a\u00a0plus.<\/li>\n
