Brief Description<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Reporting to the\u00a0Data Analytics Development Lead<\/strong>, the position holder will offer leading expert solutions and technical guidance in development, administration, service provision and availability of Safaricom Business Intelligence and analytics systems.\u00a0This includes data preparation, extraction and loading to business intelligence and data lake platforms for business consumption\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities:<\/span><\/h4>\n
    \n
  • Development of ETL and analytics processes used within the BI & Analytics systems;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Development of reliable data integration and preparation processes;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Development of insightful dashboards and reports, tracking performance across channels for actionable data-driven decision-making and insights;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Delivery of highly scalable distributed big data systems, using different open source technologies;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Design and development of front-end tier(s), middle tier(s), and \/or back-end database tier(s) for business applications. Capturing of business applications information needs and mapping of the same to the software and \/or database components;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Performs data modeling design, architecture and build data structures within an application system;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that reporting needs can be effectively developed and implemented.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Research and provide input on design approach, performance and base functionality improvements for various procedures and applications;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Generation of ideas to improve efficiency in analytics and application services offered to the business, and\/or generate revenue for business;<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Automation and enhancement of Business Intelligence processes leveraging AI for delivery of analytics solutions.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Participation and membership in various technical fora for the purpose of increasing the collective knowledge base of the team.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Core competencies, knowledge and experience:<\/span><\/h4>\n

    Functional Competencies:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Knowledge in Software development and programming.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Understanding of data strategies including data pipelines. Knowledge of NIFI, informatica or any other ETL capabilities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Understanding of Cloud technologies, Kubernetes, vmware<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Understanding of Core IT (BSS\/OSS Platforms) capabilities and Core Network (GSM, Transport)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Business Analysis<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Conduct business user requirements analysis and specification with relevant stakeholders.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Perform the necessary technical design and development functionality to ensure that data engineering requirements can be effectively developed and implemented.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Must have technical \/ professional qualifications:\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n
          \n
        • Bachelor\u2019s degree in computer science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or any other technology related field.<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Advanced UNIX \/ LINUX scripting, Python and SQL<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Advanced ETL knowledge in Informatica Cloud \/ IICS \/ IDMC, Apache NiFi and Kafka<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Oracle certification in database administration or application\u00a0development<\/span><\/li>\n
        • AWS Certification in AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Data Engineer or CompTIA Data+<\/span><\/li>\n
        • MSc\/MBA is an added advantage<\/span><\/li>\n
