Kilimo Trust is a not-for-profit organization working on agriculture for development across the East Africa community \u2013 in Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.<\/p>\n

Intern Position<\/strong><\/p>\n

Duty Station:<\/strong> Kisumu & Embu, Kenya<\/p>\n

Reports To:<\/strong> Program Officer<\/p>\n

Duration:<\/strong>\u00a03\u00a0Months<\/p>\n

Purpose of the Job:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Project Technical Intern will support the agricultural projects team in implementing field activities, providing technical assistance to farmers, and contributing to data collection, training, and documentation.<\/p>\n

The role is designed to give the intern practical exposure to agricultural project management and farmer support services while enhancing project delivery.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/h4>\n
    \n
  • Assist in field activities, including farmer mobilization, training, and extension support.<\/li>\n
  • Support the collection and management of field data, including farmer profiles and project monitoring indicators.<\/li>\n
  • Provide technical assistance in crop production practices, postharvest handling, and value addition initiatives.<\/li>\n
  • Assist in the preparation of training materials, field reports, and documentation of project activities.<\/li>\n
  • Support in the organization of farmer meetings, workshops, and demonstrations.<\/li>\n
  • Participate in monitoring visits, surveys, and evaluation exercises.<\/li>\n
  • Provide administrative support to the project team, including printing, scanning, filing, and report preparation.<\/li>\n
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support project implementation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Educational Qualifications and Experience Required<\/h4>\n
      \n
    • Bachelor\u2019s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or related field.<\/li>\n
    • Basic understanding of agricultural production systems and extension services.<\/li>\n
    • Knowledge of data collection tools and basic data analysis is an added advantage.<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).<\/li>\n
    • Previous internship, volunteer work, or project-based field experience in agriculture is desirable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Competencies Required:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working with farmers and communities.<\/li>\n
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.<\/li>\n
      • Good organizational and time management skills.<\/li>\n
      • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.<\/li>\n
      • Flexibility to travel to field sites as required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
