CLINICAL OFFICER - INTERN (OPHTHAMOLOGISTS) - THREE (3) POSTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Number of Posts<\/strong>: 3<\/p>\n

Key Requirements<\/strong>: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Medicine, Higher Diploma in Ophthalmology, and a valid practicing license.<\/p>\n

Key Duties<\/strong>: Conducting eye examinations, performing minor surgeries, and participating in eye care campaigns.<\/p>\n

Minimum Requirements<\/h4>\n
    \n
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery or a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Medicine.<\/li>\n
  • Higher Diploma in Ophthalmology Specialization from a recognized institution.<\/li>\n
  • Registered with the Clinical Officers Council<\/li>\n
  • Must hold a valid practicing license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Other requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Professional certifications: May include Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac<\/li>\n
    • Life Support (ACLS) certification.<\/li>\n
    • Proficiency in computer applications.<\/li>\n
    • Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Duties and responsibilities<\/h4>\n
        \n
      • Provide consultations at eye clinics, conduct comprehensive eye examinations, and take ophthalmic histories from patients.<\/li>\n
      • Evaluate and manage common eye ailments and chronic eye diseases. This includes prescribing appropriate medication.<\/li>\n
      • Perform minor eye surgeries, including cataract surgeries (such as small incision technique) and trachoma surgeries.<\/li>\n
      • Prescription and dispensing: Assess visual acuity and prescribe corrective eyeglasses and other low-vision devices for patients with refractive errors.<\/li>\n
      • Identify and appropriately refer complicated or emergency cases that require a senior specialist's attention, such as an ophthalmologist.<\/li>\n
      • Admit patients to wards when necessary and inform the senior medical officer.<\/li>\n
      • Lead or participate in campaigns aimed at creating awareness of eye conditions such as cataracts and trachoma.<\/li>\n
      • Take part in planning and participating in eye camps<\/li>\n
      • Conduct screening exercises and eye care training for the community.<\/li>\n
      • Documentation and reporting: Accurately and properly document all assessments and treatments in patient files. Compile and submit reports on departmental activities.<\/li>\n
      • Maintain equipment in good condition and manage the inventory of ophthalmic supplies and drugs. Compile requisitions to avoid stock shortages.<\/li>\n
      • Staff supervision: Monitor and supervise other clinic staff to ensure work is done efficiently.<\/li>\n
      • Participate in annual program planning and provide recommendations to improve the quality of services.<\/li>\n
      • Ongoing education: Attend and participate in Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in eye care.<\/li>\n
