We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a Data Engineer<\/strong> within Jubilee Life Insurance Limited<\/strong>. The position holder will report to the Head of Data Engineering<\/strong> and will be based at our Head Office in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Role Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Data Engineer will support the development and optimization of our data and analytics architecture.<\/p>\n

This role involves assisting in the design, construction, and maintenance of scalable data systems, and contributing to the improvement of data analysis and machine learning workflows.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h4>\n

Technical Support (60%)<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Assist in maintaining a robust, cloud-native data infrastructure.<\/li>\n
  • Help to monitor and maintain data pipelines to ensure reliability and performance.<\/li>\n
  • Support the creation of feature stores and pipelines for machine learning.<\/li>\n
  • Assist in modelling Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) entities while verifying data completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and documentation.<\/li>\n
  • Contribute to the development of a Self-Service Analytics platform.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Governance & Data Protection (10%)<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Support adherence to security best practices and compliance with data protection laws.<\/li>\n
    • Assist in documentation and maintenance of operational runbooks to ensure business continuity.<\/li>\n
    • Help with the amending\/creating and maintaining of the Data Dictionary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      P<\/strong>rocess Improvement (10%)<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Engage with existing processes, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.<\/li>\n
      • Ensure development practices align with CI\/CD principles and are repeatable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Team Collaboration (20%)<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • Promote and support a data-driven culture across the organisation.<\/li>\n
        • Build and maintain strong working relationships within the data team and wider business functions.<\/li>\n
        • Collaborate with team members, learn from technical leads, and contribute ideas to enhance solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Academic Qualifications<\/h4>\n
            \n
          • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Relevant Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            • 2-3 years of project experience in a data-related role.<\/li>\n
            • Familiarity with data pipeline and workflow management tools is an added advantage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Key Skills and Competencies<\/h4>\n

              1. Experience in Python, particularly for data manipulation.<\/li>\n
              2. Strong experience with SQL.<\/li>\n
              3. Intermediate to advanced understanding of data architecture and modelling techniques.<\/li>\n
              4. Exposure to cloud technologies and platform maintenance.<\/li>\n
              5. Intermediate knowledge of ETL and ELT processes.<\/li>\n
              6. Strong communication and collaboration skills.<\/li>\n
              7. Proactive approach to learning and personal development.<\/li>\n
              8.
