Wetlands International works to conserve and restore wetlands for the benefit of people and nature. Across Eastern Africa, the organisation implements programmes that support climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, water security, and sustainable livelihoods.<\/p>\n

Effective communication is central to amplifying this work, strengthening visibility, and ensuring donor and partner engagement. To support these efforts, Wetlands International Eastern Africa is seeking a\u00a0Communications Intern<\/strong>\u00a0to contribute to content creation, digital communications, and field documentation.<\/p>\n

Role Overview<\/h4>\n

\nWorks Closely With<\/strong>: Programme Teams, MEL\/GIS Officers, Country Teams<\/p>\n

The Communications Intern will support day-to-day communication activities under the guidance of the Communications Officer. The role offers hands-on learning in storytelling, photography, social media management, and donor visibility, while contributing to the organisation\u2019s regional communications outputs.<\/p>\n

Working closely with programme teams, MEL\/GIS officers, and country teams, the intern will help document field activities, support digital platforms, and assist in the preparation of communication materials.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/h4>\n

Content Creation<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Draft social media posts, captions, field stories, short articles, and newsletters.<\/li>\n
  • Assist with story gathering from staff and partners.<\/li>\n
  • Support editing and formatting communication materials.<\/li>\n
  • Prepare content calendars and thematic posts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Digital Communications<\/strong><\/p>\n

    • Support management of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).<\/li>\n
    • Track analytics and compile simple engagement reports.<\/li>\n
    • Post approved content and maintain platform consistency.<\/li>\n
    • Update communication databases and mailing lists.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Photography & Videography<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Capture photos and short video clips during field activities or events.<\/li>\n
      • Edit basic multimedia materials using tools such as Canva, CapCut and Adobe Creative suite.<\/li>\n
      • Maintain proper metadata, captions, and storage of media files.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Documentation Support<\/strong><\/p>\n

        • Record quotes, testimonials and event highlights.<\/li>\n

          • Assist in preparing donor visibility materials and templates.<\/li>\n
          • Document branded project items, events, and field materials.<\/li>\n
