The Kenya Institute of Mass Communication is actively seeking enthusiastic Kenyan talent for the Cook III<\/strong> role on a Permanent and Pensionable basis. This Entry-level<\/strong> opportunity, based in Nairobi<\/strong>, is ideal for culinary professionals ready to master the fundamentals of high-quality meal preparation and impeccable kitchen hygiene under expert guidance.<\/p>\n

Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) is a Public Media Training Institution in Kenya established in 1961. It is currently a State Corporation established through Legal Notice No.197 of 2011 (amended 2012). The Institute offers training at Post Graduate, Diploma and Certificate levels in Communication and Cinematic Arts.<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the entry grade for the Cook cadre. An Officer at this level will work under a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:<\/p>\n

(i) Preparing meals and service delivery
\n(ii) Receiving menu interpretation from the immediate supervisor;
\n(iii) Setting up work stations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment;
\n(iv) Checking quality of ingredients;
\n(v) Keeping a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen;
\n(vi) Operating and maintaining kitchen equipment such as boilers, ovens, grills, fryers and any other kitchen equipment;
\n(vii) Ensuring portion control during service time to ensure right quantity of food is served; and
\n(viii) Preparing and producing food.<\/p>\n

Person Specifications<\/h4>\n

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:<\/p>\n

(i) Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade of D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
\n(ii) Craft Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Food Production, Food and Beverage Production, Food and Beverage Service and Sales or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
\n(iii) Food Handlers' Certificate; and
\n(iv) Certificate in computer application skills.<\/p>\n

Terms of Service<\/strong>
\nThe successful candidate will be on Permanent and Pensionable terms of service.
