The Kenya Medical Research Institute is committed to providing the youth with opportunities to acquire, sharpen their knowledge and gain technical\/practical skills to complement their studies to enhance their employability in line with the Kenya Vision 2030. The KEMRI Internship Program (KIP) seeks to develop a pool of young talent adequately exposed to working in the research industry. After the planned 1-year internship program, the candidates will have gained practical workplace experience to enable them to have a competitive edge in their job search.<\/p>\n

KEMRI invites applications from dynamic and innovative individuals to fill the following project contract positions under the Department of Epidemiology, Statistics and Informatics (DESI)<\/p>\n

Bachelor of Science in Biostatistics<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Intern will be trained in the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Implementation of research projects and\/or supervising designated aspects of the work;<\/li>\n
  2. Carrying out fieldwork and laboratory experimental procedures;<\/li>\n
  3. Organization of the internal scientific seminars;<\/li>\n
  4. Interpretation and validation of results;<\/li>\n
  5. Maintaining the scientific laboratory in good working condition; and<\/li>\n
  6. Ensuring that all chemicals, reagents and consumables are properly stored in the laboratory.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In addition, the applicants must:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Be a Kenyan youth below 30 years of age.<\/li>\n
    2. Should have graduated and obtained the relevant final certificate.<\/li>\n
    3. Provide a Certificate of good conduct.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Appointment is for a period of one (1) year non-renewable and is subject to availability of funds.<\/p>\n

      A stipend will be paid but successful candidates will cater for their own transport, accommodation, and upkeep during this period.<\/p>\n

      The Interns will be expected to take up a personal accident cover and medical Insurance cover.<\/p>\n

      KEMRI\/the project WILL NOT offer employment after the completion of the internship<\/p>\n
