{"id":872093,"date":"2026-03-09T00:52:30","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T21:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/campusbiz.co.ke\/careers\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=872093"},"modified":"2026-03-09T00:52:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T21:52:38","slug":"872093-kemri-lab-technologist-homabay","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/campusbiz.co.ke\/careers\/vacancy\/872093-kemri-lab-technologist-homabay\/","title":{"rendered":"Lab Technologist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a state corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Laboratory Technologist - Homabay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Report to Retention Officer<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"toc_key_responsibilities\">Key responsibilities<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee the collection of biological samples (blood, urine, and other relevant specimens), ensuring proper labelling, processing, storage, and transportation in accordance with study protocols<\/li>\n<li>Conduct biochemical and toxicological assays related to microcystin exposure and ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting of laboratory results within acceptable turnaround times<\/li>\n<li>Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment in accordance with SOPs, ensuring optimal performance at all times<\/li>\n<li>Adhere to Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) standards and ensure compliance with ethical, biosafety, and regulatory requirements<\/li>\n<li>Implement and maintain quality assurance measures, including participation in internal and external quality control programs, EQA proficiency testing schemes, and ensuring quality of reagents, equipment, and samples<\/li>\n<li>Participate in community-based fieldwork activities, including supporting participant consenting and screening, and coordinating specimen transport between field sites and the central laboratory<\/li>\n<li>Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and documentation; generate daily real-time summary reports; and contribute to periodic progress reports, audit preparation, and monitoring visits<\/li>\n<li>Monitor laboratory supplies, reagents, storage conditions, inventory tracking, and ensure proper laboratory waste segregation and management<\/li>\n<li>Perform any other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Coordinator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"toc_vacancy_requirements:\">Vacancy Requirements:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from KMTC or recognized training institution<\/li>\n<li>Registered member of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)<\/li>\n<li>Valid practicing license from the relevant regulatory body<\/li>\n<li>Experience in Research laboratory work will be an added advantage - Added Advantage<\/li>\n<li>Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding license is desirable (for field activities)<\/li>\n<li>Strong attention to detail and adherence to protocols<br \/>\nKnowledge of biosafety and infection prevention procedures<\/li>\n<li>Good communication and teamwork skills<br \/>\nAbility to work independently in field-based settings<\/li>\n<li>High ethical standards and commitment to research integrity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":715154,"template":"","meta":{"_seopress_robots_primary_cat":"","_seopress_titles_title":"","_seopress_titles_desc":"","_seopress_robots_index":"","_promoted":"","_filled":0,"_featured":0,"_job_salary_unit":"","_job_how_to_apply":"<p>Application Ends on: <strong>03\/25\/26 5:00:00 PM<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>To apply for this post, use the application link below.
