Ready to nurture your talent and become a future research leader?<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is a premier research-to-policy institution, generating evidence, strengthening research and related capacity in the African research and development ecosystem, and engaging policy to inform action on health and development.<\/p>\n<p>The Center, through its Research and Related Capacity Strengthening (RRCS) Division, seeks to strengthen individual and institutional research capacity to enable African researchers to fully participate in defining and implementing priority population and health programs on \u00a0 the continent. As part of individual capacity strengthening efforts, APHRC has, over the years, been running a demand-driven research internship program whose objective seeks to nurture talented young Africans to become future scholars and research leaders.<\/p>\n<p>For the 2026 period, the Research and Related Capacity Strengthening (RRCS) Division has opened internship opportunities in the following projects for 3-6 months, starting May 2026.<\/p>\n<h4>Project 33 \u2013 Early Childhood Development (ECD) Data Visualization Project \u2013 (1 intern)<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Project Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Working with health, education, social protection and other sectors and partners, the African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC) is supporting the development of a centralized data platform that pools ECD indicators from the different sectors for holistic visualization and reporting, to enable effective planning, programming, and resource allocation while enhancing multi-sectoral collaboration. Initially, the platform development is focusing on three counties (Nairobi City, Isiolo, and Homa Bay) and will ultimately be scaled up to the National level and out to the rest of the counties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internship Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support cocreation engagements with policy makers in Homa Bay and Isiolo Counties.<\/li>\n<li>Support data collection and analysis for feasibility phase, support in production of multimedia outputs and manuscripts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred background and skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in early childhood development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Project 34 \u2013 Early Childhood Development (ECD) Multisectoral Coordination - (1 intern)<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Project Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Effective multi-sectoral coordination is crucial for provision of holistic early childhood development (ECD) services. However, there is little evidence on the status of multi-sectoral coordination in Kenya. Our research will provide evidence on the status of ECD multi-sectoral coordination in Kenya through engagement with key stakeholders drawn from key government ministries, departments and agencies and with non-state actors.
