The lecture includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A public lecture and panel discussion<\/li>\n<li>A media-focused masterclass<\/li>\n<li>A closed-door research and grant-writing workshop<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Kenya-based intern will serve as the primary on-site support during the event, working in close coordination with the Europe-based intern throughout the preparation and post-event phases. Together, the pair will gain hands-on experience in research, communications, and international event coordination<\/p>\n<h4>Objectives<\/h4>\n<p>The overall objective of the internship role is to support the delivery of a high-level international event while providing hands-on learning in event coordination, research, and communications. The intem will contribute across all three phases of the event: preparation, delivery, and post-event, with a particular focus on on-site logistics and documentation.<\/p>\n<p>The Kenya-based intern will contribute to the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the delivery of a high-level international academic and policy event Provide practical learning experience in event organisation, research, and communications<\/li>\n<li>Expose the intern to key themes of climate change, migration, and global health<\/li>\n<li>Foster cross-cultural collaboration with a peer intern based in Europe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Scope and Key Responsibilities<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Event Preparation (On-site) May-June 2026)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support development of communication materials (short briefs, speaker bios, social media content)<\/li>\n<li>Assist in preparing participant lists, invitations, and logistics trackers<\/li>\n<li>Help organise event materials (agendas, name badges, printed folders)<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate regularly with the Europe-based intern to align on tasks and progress<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Event Delivery (On-site in Nairobi | End of June\/Early July 2026)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide full on-site support during the event:<\/li>\n<li>Welcoming participants and guiding logistics<\/li>\n<li>Registration desk management<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating with vendors, AV, and catering as needed<\/li>\n<li>Assist with note-taking during sessions (lecture, panels, masterclass)<\/li>\n<li>Support documentation of the event (photos, short summaries, quotes)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Communications &amp; Documentation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Draft short daily summaries or highlights of discussions<\/li>\n<li>Assist with social media posts, newsletters, or event coverage<\/li>\n<li>Compile key insights from sessions in accessible, non-technical language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Research &amp; Leaming Support<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conduct light background research on:<\/li>\n<li>Climate change and displacement<\/li>\n<li>Health and migration themes<\/li>\n<li>Support the preparation of briefing notes or summaries for internal use<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Post-Event Tasks<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in organising event outputs: notes, photos, and participant feedback<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to a short event report or blog-style summary<\/li>\n<li>Provide written reflections or lessons learned as part of the pilot evaluation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Deliverables<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Session notes and summaries<\/li>\n<li>Contributions to communication outputs (social media, short write-ups)<\/li>\n<li>Support for the final event documentation\/report<\/li>\n<li>Written reflection on the internship experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Duration of the Internship<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Preparation (Onsite from Kenya): May-June 2026<\/li>\n<li>Event (full-time) in Nairobi<\/li>\n<li>Post-event wrap-up: in Nairobi-1-2 weeks after the event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Reporting and Coordination<\/h4>\n<p>The Youth Intern will be supervised by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Samuel Hall team member (primary supervisor)<\/li>\n<li>With exposure to AKU partners and event organisers<\/li>\n<li>Weekly check-ins will be held to review progress, agree on upcoming tasks, and align with event priorities. The intern will also coordinate closely with the Europe-based intern on a regular basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Profile of the Youth Intern<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>An ongoing undergraduate student (final year preferred), based in Nairobi, Kenya<\/li>\n<li>Strong interest in global issues, climate change, migration, or displacement<\/li>\n<li>Good writing and communication skills in English<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-level event environment<\/li>\n<li>Organised, proactive, and eager to learn<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Learning Outcomes<\/h4>\n<p>By the end of the internship, the student will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand how international policy and research events are organised<\/li>\n<li>Gain exposure to climate change and migration debates<\/li>\n<li>Develop basic skills in:\n<ul>\n<li>Professional communication<\/li>\n<li>Event coordination<\/li>\n<li>Research summarisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Level of Responsibility<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Tasks are supportive, not technical or high-stakes<\/li>\n<li>Close supervision will be provided at all times<\/li>\n<li>Focus is on learning and exposure, not performance pressure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Conditions\/Remuneration<\/h4>\n<p>Samuel Hall will provide reimbursement for meals and local transport incurred in direct connection with internship duties.
