The Maa Trust is hiring an Intern Maa Bead-Work at The Maa Trust Headquarters. You'll support product design, help create marketing materials for Maa Beadwork, and assist with updating our website and digital product information. We are looking for someone with design skills and an eye for detail. The Maa Trust is a non-profit organization based in the Maasai Mara, Kenya, that promotes community-led conservation by fostering sustainable development. It works with local wildlife conservancies to improve livelihoods through education, water access, and social enterprises like Maa Beadwork and Maa Honey, which empower women and reduce poverty.<\/p>\n

Maa Beadwork was launched in 2013 at the request of Maasai women who felt they were not benefiting from the conservancies, as rent payments are largely passed only to men. The ladies wanted to be connected to the tourist market in the Mara, and to camp managers who seek high quality local produce for their shops.<\/p>\n

Established to create sustainable alternative livelihoods for women living around conservancies in the Maasai Mara, Maa Beadwork helps women access clean water, install a solar power system to provide lighting for homework, and enable their children to start their education.<\/p>\n

Job Title<\/strong>: Intern Maa Bead-Work

\nReports to<\/strong>: Maa Bead-Work Production Manager
\nDuration<\/strong>: One Year (June 2026- May 2027)<\/p>\n

Job Purpose:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maa Beadwork is seeking a creative and detail-oriented intern to support product design, digital presence, and marketing materials. The intern will assist in developing visual assets including catalogues, lookbooks, and product documentation, as well as supporting the revamp and updating of the Maa Beadwork website.<\/p>\n

The role will also support the creation of structured product information, ensuring all beadwork products are well-documented, visually presented, and aligned with market and branding needs.<\/p>\n

Key roles and responsibilities:<\/h4>\n
    \n
  1. Support product development and design processes, including concept development, documentation, and refinement of collections<\/li>\n
  2. Assist in the design and development of catalogues, lookbooks, and marketing materials<\/li>\n
  3. Support the revamp and regular updating of the Maa Beadwork website (products, collections, content)<\/li>\n
  4. Create and maintain product cards with images, descriptions, materials, techniques, and pricing<\/li>\n
  5. Photograph finished products and format images for digital and print use<\/li>\n
  6. Organize and maintain a digital library of product images and assets<\/li>\n
  7. Update and maintain artisan records and product labeling systems<\/li>\n
  8. Support branding and visual storytelling across platforms (social media, presentations, etc.)<\/li>\n
  9. Assist in other Maa Beadwork activities as needed<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Qualifications and Skills:<\/h4>\n
      \n
    1. Demonstrated aptitude for product development and design (academic background, portfolio, or practical experience)<\/li>\n
    2. Basic to intermediate skills in graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or similar)<\/li>\n
    3. Strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, Google Workspace)<\/li>\n
    4. Interest in digital marketing, design, or e-commerce<\/li>\n
    5. Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information clearly<\/li>\n
    6. Basic photography and image editing skills are an added advantage<\/li>\n
    7. Interest in or appreciation of Maasai beadwork and craftsmanship<\/li>\n
    8. Fluency in Maa (spoken) is an added advantage<\/li>\n
    9.
