Established in 2010, it acts as a global champion for women and girls, bringing together resources and mandates to accelerate the world's progress on gender rights.<\/p>\n<p>The Security and Safety Services team is responsible for ensuring that UN Women personnel, assets, and programmes operate within a safe and secure environment, enabling the effective delivery of the organization\u2019s mandate. Operating within the framework of the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS), the team provides strategic, policy, and operational support. The team oversees the implementation of security risk management, promotes occupational health and safety, and strengthens business continuity and crisis preparedness. It leads efforts to mainstream security and safety into all aspects of UN Women\u2019s programming, planning, and budgeting processes, ensuring risk-informed decision-making and accountability. The team also develops internal policies, tools, and training materials aligned with UNSMS standards and UN Women\u2019s strategic priorities, while coordinating closely with other UN entities to advance a gender-responsive, inclusive, and person-centered approach to security and safety.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UN Women, Security and Safety Communications Intern<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Security and Safety Services team at UN Women in Nairobi, Kenya, seeks to enlist a full-time intern to support the section in the identification, coordination and educational development of strategic communication outputs within UN Women and the wider UN Security Management System. The position will utilize the previously developed Strategic Communications Plan, to identify tangible deliverables, and develop an implementation strategy together with communications products, to increase security and safety awareness among UN Women personnel.<br \/>\n<b><\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Function: <\/strong>Communications and Advocacy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Initial Contract Duration: <\/strong>6 months<\/p>\n<h4>Responsibilities<\/h4>\n<p>In line with the approved UN Women Security and Safety Services Work Plan and under the guidance of the Regional Security Specialist for the Americas and the Caribbean, the Security and Safety Communications Intern will be responsible for the following:<\/p>\n<p>Supporting the communication efforts of the wider UN Security Management System (UNSMS) as an integral member of the UN Women Security and Safety Services Team, with a focus on facilitating the identification, development, and delivery of person-centered security and safety communications and supporting the implementation of the internal security and safety communications roadmap to strengthen awareness, engagement, and a culture of security and safety across the organization by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Liaising with appropriate units, divisions and sections internally;<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with the UN Department of Safety and Security and UNSMS partners to develop robust security and safety communications products;<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the development of gender-sensitive security information, coordination and communication materials;<\/li>\n<li>Supporting the development of communication campaigns, establishing cohesive and coordinated channels of communication to reach and influence key audiences;<\/li>\n<li>Developing effective presentations, with a focus on visually accessible communications;<\/li>\n<li>Utilizing communications and design tools to develop communication products (flyers, presentations, graphics, videos, multimedia materials, intranet pages);<\/li>\n<li>Participating in the Inter-Agency Security Management System Strategic Communications Working Group;<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with all interested parties with regard identified educational materials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Qualifications<\/h4>\n<p>University studies in one of the following disciplines: security risk management, criminal justice systems, security information management, international relations or media\/communications or other relevant subjects is required.<\/p>\n<p>Meet one of the following:<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master\u2019s programme, or higher);<br \/>\nb)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor\u2019s degree or equivalent);<br \/>\nc)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Be enrolled in a mandatory national service programme of which the internship may form a part;<br \/>\nd)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within two-years of graduation.<\/p>\n<h4>Competencies :<\/h4>\n<p><b>Core Values:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Integrity;<\/li>\n<li>Professionalism;<\/li>\n<li>Respect for Diversity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Core Competencies:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Awareness and Sensitivity Regarding Gender Issues;<\/li>\n<li>Accountability;<\/li>\n<li>Creative Problem Solving;<\/li>\n<li>Effective Communication;<\/li>\n<li>Inclusive Collaboration;<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholder Engagement;<\/li>\n<li>Leading by Example.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/sites\/default\/files\/Headquarters\/Attachments\/Sections\/About%20Us\/Employment\/UN-Women-values-and-competencies-framework-en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">this link<span class=\"wpil-link-icon\" title=\"External Link\" style=\"margin: 0 0 0 5px;\"><svg width=\"24\" height=\"24\" style=\"height:16px;
