Vacancy Description

Pursuant to the Constitution of Kenya (2010) and the County Governments Act No. 17 of 2012, the County Government of Kakamega invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions.

OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR

PUBLIC COMMUNICATION OFFICER III, JOB GROUP CPSB 11 (3 POSTS)

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 25,470×1,110 – 26,580×1,120 – 27,700×1,150 – 28,850×1,170 – 30,020×1,250 – 31,270×1,300-32,570×1,380 – 33,950p.m
Terms of Service: Two (2) year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade for Information Officers. An officer at this level will be deployed either at the Ministry Headquarters or in a field office to assist in information services work. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:

i. Gathering news;
ii. Verifying authenticity of news; and
iii. Initial editing, dispatching news and features to the Departmental Headquarters and media houses.

Requirements for Appointment

iv. For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:
v. Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) mean grade C with a minimum of C+ in English or Kiswahili and C in any other relevant subject or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
vi. Have a Diploma in any of the following: Journalism, Mass Communication, Internal Relations, Communication Studies, or any other approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution; and
vii. Be proficient in computer applications.


ASSISTANT ADMINISTRATOR II, JOB GROUP CPSB 10 (1 POST)

Basic Salary Scale: Ksh. 31,270 x 1,300 – 32,570 x 1,380 – 33,950 x 1,390 – 35,340 x 1,460 – 36,800 x 1,470- 38,270×1,470 – 39,740×1,520 – 41,260 p.m.
Terms of Service: Two (2) year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

This will be the entry and training grade into this cadre. The officer will work under the guidance and supervision of a senior officer in the department. Specific duties and responsibilities in a department headquarters will be:

i. Undertaking general office administration;
ii. Handling general public complaints;
iii. Compiling returns, daily operational and incident reports;
iv. Collecting and collating data for preparation of speech briefs, report writing and updating bio-data of administrative officers.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

i. Have Diploma in Management and administration, Diploma in Arts, Diploma in Community Development or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
ii. Be competent in computer application skills; and
iii. Have excellent communication skills

SUPPORT STAFF, JOB GROUP CPSB 16 (2 POSTS)

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 13,830×320 – 14,150×460 – 14,610×510 – 15,120p.m
Terms of Service: One (1) year contract renewable subject to satisfactory performance. Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Undertaking cleaning duties at the offices and compound;
  2. Performing messengerial duties;
  3. Preparing refreshment; and
  4. Performing any other duty that maybe assigned by the supervisors. xii.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must: –

  1. Must be a Kenyan Citizen; and
  2. Good interpersonal and communication skills
