Microbiologist

Job Summary:

Microbiologist at Kenafric industries will be involved in microbiological analysis of Raw material, Packaging Material , Finished products and Hygiene monitoring of the process and Equipment’s along with implementation of ISO and HACCP standards at factory.

Kenafric Industries Limited is one of the largest manufacturers of Confectionery, Food, Footwear, and Stationery products in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handles analytical equipment, calibrations and equipment upkeep based on established SOPs.
• Applies knowledge of local regulations e.g. KEBS standards in microbiological analysis
• Reviewing and updating SOPs based on KEBS standards.
• Conducts microbiological testing and generating reports on Daily, monthly basis
• Learns/updates knowledge on new techniques and requirements related to microbiological testing.
• Highlights issues and recommends improvements/mitigating/prevention actions based on microbiological analysis by conducting RCA.
• Responsible to coordinate with service provider for pest control implementation on monthly basis as per ISO 22K requirements.
• Observes safety procedures e.g. use of appropriate PPE and occupational health and safety requirements including factory guidelines.
• To prepare presentation on microbiological report on monthly basis and conduct training on the food safety, GMP and Hygiene to shop floor employees in coordination with quality team leader and HR.
• To participate in day-to-day work of Quality department and provide inputs to achieve department objective.

Key Requirements:

• Diploma / Graduate / Postgraduate in Microbiology
• Minimum one year of experience in managing microbiology lab & microbiological testing with knowledge of HACCP & ISO 22K
• TPM – Total Productive Maintenance.
