Government of Mauritius Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships for Kenyans
The Government of Mauritius offers to award scholarships to deserving students who are resident citizens of member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries, as per the following criteria:
- For undergraduate programmes, applicants should be above 18 years of age and should not have reached their 26th birthday by 01 January 2026.
- For MPhil, MPhil/PhD and PhD programmes, applicants should not have reached 40 years by 01 January 2026.
- Applicants must have already applied for a full-time on-campus programme (Diploma, Degree, MPhil or PhD) at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius (listed in Section 8 in the relevant Guidelines for Applicants) for the academic year starting in 2024.
- The scholarship will be for a maximum duration as indicated in the table below or the minimum course duration whichever is lesser.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should meet the following conditions:
Undergraduate
- Minimum KCSE Mean Grade of B (plain)
- Not more than 25 years of Age
- Have an original KCSE Certificate
- Strong grades on the major subjects that are to the specialty preferred.
- Completed Secondary Education in the last three (3) years
Postgraduate/ Masters and PHD
- Graduated with a Bachelor’s degree of at least Upper Second -class honours for Masters
- Have a Master’s degree for PhD
- Are 35 years and below for Masters and not more than 40 years for PhD programme.
The Scholarship will support successful candidates in meeting their tuition fees and contributing to their living expenses during their studies in Mauritius. Furthermore, the scholarship covers return airfare by the most economical route. This will be valid for travel from the country of origin at the beginning of the studies and back to the country of origin upon successful completion of studies.

Guidelines for Applicants
➢ This document contains important information regarding the conditions attached to the scholarship, the application procedure, and a list of public Higher Education Institutions in Mauritius where full-time on-campus studies are run.
Application Form (Applicants are invited to fill in the form electronically before printing)
➢ Scholarship applications can only be made on the application form.
➢ An application under this scheme is to be made solely through the nominating agency responsible for processing scholarships in the applicant’s country of citizenship.
➢ Section 5 of the application form should be endorsed and completed by the Nominating Agency in the applicant’s country of citizenship.
➢ Such Nominating Agency, which may typically be part of the Ministry of Education in the country of the applicant, will then shortlist and endorse the applications of a maximum of FIFTEEN (15) eligible candidates (the decision on the distribution of nominees from the undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes rest on the nominating agencies) and submit the duly completed application forms as per the table below:

All eligible candidates must read the guidelines carefully and apply online by filling in the application form electronically available at the above website before printing.
Obtain Standard application form from the Ministry of Education, Directorate of Higher Education offices located at Telposta Towers, 27th Floor Room 2702. The Standard application forms can also be downloaded from the Ministry’s website: www.education.go.ke
Completed application forms with attached copy of online applications form, certified photocopies of ID, academic/professional certificates, transcripts, Birth Certificate, other testimonials should be submitted to:

Note:
Direct application to the Mauritian Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science & Technology will not be entertained.
The final decision for the award of a scholarship rests with the Ministry.
The Government of Mauritius reserves the right not to offer any scholarship following this call for application.
