The National Housing Corporation (NHC) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, Cap. 117, whose mandate is to implement government housing policies and Programmes. The Corporation is seeking to recruit results driven and highly motivated individuals to fill the positions below.

Quantity Surveyor – NHC/69/2024

NHC Job Grade: 7

Job Specification:

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail assisting in:

  1. Participating in planning and analysis for housing and infrastructure projects;
  2. Preparing of cost estimates for housing and infrastructure projects;
  3. Preparing of project financial estimates (expenditure & income) and scheduling to inform the Corporation’s budgeting process;
  4. Preparing tender and contract documents for housing and infrastructure projects;
  5. Participating in procurement processes for housing and infrastructure projects;
  6. Measuring works and prepare interim payment valuations and certificates ;
  7. Undertaking valuations of variations arising from site instructions and/or revision of designs and specifications;
  8. Participating in evaluation of contractual claims;
  9. Undertaking financial appraisals to monitor and control costs;
  10. Measuring works and prepare final accounts and certificates for project closure.
  11. Collecting, maintain and update data on construction rates and prices of building materials.
  12. Preparing material schedules and labour costs for maintenance works.
  13. Providing necessary documents, expertise and participate in dispute resolution mechanism.
  14. Determining the selling price of completed housing units.
  15. Guiding Quantity Survey Assistants in execution of their duties.

Person Specification:

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Quantity Survey, Building Economics or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  2. Proficiency in computer applications; and
  3. Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Interpersonal skills;
  2. Communication skills;
  3. Ability to meet deadlines;
  4. Customer focus;

Quantity Surveying Assistant – NHC/76/2024

NHC Job Grade: 9

Job Specification:

Duties and responsibilities at this level entail assisting in:

  1. Documenting of procedures and standards for undertaking Quantity Survey and contract documentation work;
  2. Preparing of material schedules, bills of quantities and tender documents;
  3. Developing of print-outs and copies of tender and contract documents;
  4. Consolidating, referencing and custody of documents;
  5. Project supervising, cost analysis & reporting on building and overall construction costs;
  6. Project costing appraisals in liaison with Engineers and Architects

Person Specification:

  1. Diploma in Quantity Survey, Building Economics or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  2. Proficiency in computer applications; and
  3. Fulfills the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution.

Skills and Competencies:

  1. Interpersonal skills;
  2. Communication skills;
  3. Ability to work independently and in a team;
  4. Ability to meet deadlines;
  5. Ability to supervise others;
  6. Customer focus;

Terms of Service and Remuneration

  1. The appointment to positions in Grades 4 to 12 will be on permanent and pensionable basis.
  2. Successful candidates will be offered competitive remuneration package in accordance with the Corporations Salary Structure
