MEDICAL OFFICER (TWENTY-SEVEN (27) POSITIONS) – ADVERT NO. 16/2024/02

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 50,160 – 67,110 p.m. CPSB 07 (Job Group M)

Terms of Employment: Three (3) Year Contract

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
  2. Successfully completed one (1) year internship from a recognised institution;
  3. Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
  4. Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board; and

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Diagnosing, caring and treating diseases;

PHARMACIST (THREE (3) POSITIONS) – ADVERT NO. 16/2024/03

Terms of Employment: Three (3) Year Contract

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Bachelors of Pharmacy Degree (B Pharm) from an institution approved by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board from a recognized institution;
  2. Successfully completed one-year internship from a recognized institution,
  3. Registration Certificate by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board;
  4. Valid practicing license from Pharmacy and Poisons Board; and v. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Screening prescriptions for legal validity, drug contraindications, drug interaction, appropriateness of dose, frequency and duration of dosing and patience convenience;
  2. Preparing and dispensing medicines according to good dispensing practices and counseling patients on use of medicine;
  3. Making extemporaneous preparations;
  4. Participating in ward rounds;
  5. Identifying medicinal gaps and challenges;
  6. Maintaining a daily activity log book for recording all activities undertaken;
  7. Recommending over the counter medicines to patients/clients with simple medical condition and making necessary referrals; and viii. Making entries into the relevant inventory management records registered.

RADIOGRAPHER I (THERAPY RADIOGRAPHER) (TWO (2) POSITIONS) – ADVERT NO. 16/2024/04

Terms of Employment: 3 years Contract

Requirements for appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Bachelor of Science in any of the following fields: -Therapy Radiography, Radiography Technology or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; and
  2. Certificate in Computer Application skills from recognized institutions.

 Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provision of Medical imaging services in a hospital;
  2. Processing, verifying and maintaining information related to patients;
  3. Providing care and counselling patients and their relatives before, during and after examination;
  4. Safeguarding and providing basic maintenance and safety of medical equipment in the hospital;
  5. Establishing and maintenance quality assurance programs in the department;

Terms of Employment: Three (3) Year Contract

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Diploma in either Environmental Health Science or Public Health
  2. Inspection from a recognized institution;
  3. Valid Practicing license from the Public Health Officers and Technicians Council; and

Duties and Responsibilities

An officer at this level will provide Environmental Health Extension services in the area of deployment, where specific duties and responsibilities will include:

  1. Mobilizing, sensitizing and advising communities on matters related to environmental health;
  2. Referring health cases to relevant health facilities;
  3. carrying out immunization;
  4. Identifying environmental health issues at community level;
  5. organizing community health days to advise communities on common public health issues;
  6. Collecting and maintaining up to date records of services rendered;
  7. Assessing health needs of the community;
  8. implementing vector, vermin and rodent control measures; and ix. Implementing integrated mosquito control strategies.

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/ Kenya Registered Midwifery or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry qualification from a recognized institution;

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

  1. Assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient’s outcomes;
  2. Providing appropriate healthcare service including Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), immunization, PMTCT, ante- natal care and delivery, providing health education and counselling to patients/clients and community on identified health needs;
  3. Referring patients and clients appropriately;

  2. Fixing and removing casts, bandages and tractions to and from patients;

Salary Scale: Kshs. 40,000 p.m.

Terms of Employment: Three (3) Year Contract

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology from a recognized institution;
  2. Registration by Association of Medical Records Officers Kenya (AMRO-K); and
  3. Certificate in computer application Skills from a recognized institution

Duties and Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: –

  1. Receiving and registering patients at hospital reception;
  2. Booking appointment for patients to specialist and consultants clinics;
  3. Storing and retrieving medical records and documents;
  4. Preparing clinics;
  5. Updating bed bureaus;
  6. Capturing data from service points;
  7. Maintaining record safety and confidentiality; and
  8. Directing patients to relevant clinics.

AMBULANCE DRIVER III (FIFTEEN (15) POSITIONS) – ADVERT NO. 16/2024/24

Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 16,870 – 19,220 p.m. CPSB 15 (Job Group D)

Allowances as per the SRC circulars attached to this position.

Terms of Employment: 3 Years Contract

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D (Plain) or its equivalent from a recognized institution;
  2. A valid driving license free from any current endorsements for classes of vehicles an officer is required to drive;
  3. Passed Suitability Test for Driver Grade III;
  4. Passed practical test for drivers conducted by respected Ministry/Department;
  5. Attended a first Aid certificate course lasting not less than a week at St. Johns Ambulance, Kenya Red Cross Society or Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technologies (KIHBT) or other recognized institutions;
  6. Valid Emergency Medical Technician certificate;
  7. Certificate in emergency vehicle operation;
  8. Valid certificate of good conduct from the Kenya Police;
  9.  Driving experience for more than three years;
  10.  Two-year experience as an ambulance operator will be an added advantage; and
  11.  Additional qualification within the medical field will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Driving ambulances as authorized, carrying out routine checks on vehicle cooling, oil, electrical and brakes system, detecting and reporting malfunctions of vehicle systems, maintaining work tickets while ensuring safety of the Ambulance on and off the road, safety of passengers and cleanliness of the ambulance at all times;
  2. Maintain the ambulance and assigned equipment in the most efficient operating condition
  3. Ensure timely and safe patient rescue and evacuation;
  4. Assist doctors or paramedics in patient care during rescue and evacuation;
  5. Proper incident command while on rescue mission;
  6. Ensure ambulance is in proper mechanical condition and is well stocked with commodities by performing daily unit checklist before and after every shift; and
  7. Perform any other duties within the scope of this position
