Key Responsibilities

The investment intern will report to the firm’s Portfolio Manager (PM) and will have the following duties:

• Directly work with the PM to monitor both liquid and private market products across the firm’s portiolio.
• Prepare and present periodic, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for fund management purposes.
• Assist in the preparation of investment proposals and other materials for investment committee and company-wide meetings.
• Conduct financial modelling tasks as may be required by the PM.
• Assist the PM with security selection analysis and support in the creation of the firm’s asset allocation.
• Perform any related tasks which would be delegated by the PM.
• Subject to satisfactory performance, the candidate could receive an offer to be an investment analyst.

Minimum Qualification, Experience and Skills

• Prior relevant working experience of up to 1 year.
• Knowledge of capital markets and securities in the United States (US), Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
• In particular, the candidate should be comfortable when analysing equity investments in the following fields: financial services, telecommunication media and technology (TMT) and consumer.
• Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with local and continental fixed income securities in local and foreign currencies.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, Economics or any other relevant field.
• Passed the CFA Level 1 exam.
• Strong mathematical acumen, language skills and communication skills.
• Analytical and intellectually curious.
• Financial modelling experience would be very advantageous.
• Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently.
