Operations and Project Management Internship

Reports to: Senior Operations Associate
Start Date: March/April 2025

Work directly with our leadership team to support project management and operational initiatives. This role provides exposure to both operational functions and project execution.

About AfEMA

The Africa E-Mobility Alliance (AfEMA) is a nonprofit organisation working to accelerate the adoption of sustainable electric mobility across Africa. We unite diverse partners to promote an affordable, accessible, and environmentally sustainable e-mobility ecosystem through policy, market, and knowledge practice initiatives.

Overview

Work directly with our leadership team to support project management and operational initiatives. This role provides exposure to both operational functions and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

● Assist in coordinating AfEMA’s project portfolio, including tracking deliverables and timelines
● Help develop project proposals and track implementation progress
● Assist with operational tasks, including meeting coordination and documentation
● Support program monitoring and evaluation activities

Required Qualifications

● Currently pursuing or recently finalised a degree in Business Administration, Project Management, International Development, or related field
● Strong organisational and time management skills
● Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
● Proficiency with productivity and collaboration tools (MS Office, Google Workspace)
● Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities
● Interest in sustainable development and African markets

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience with project management methodologies or tools
● Background in event planning or coordination
● Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation frameworks
● Understanding of nonprofit operations
● Familiarity with African business environments
● Interest in transportation, energy, or climate policy

At AfEMA, we structure internship experiences to provide a balanced exposure to project work and operations/management responsibilities. We recognise the importance of alternating focus between these areas based on organisational priorities and learning objectives. Interns will gain practical experience in project delivery while also developing operational competencies that provide a holistic understanding of our work.
