Rift Valley roses (K) Ltd is a rose flower producing and exporting farm, located in Naivasha. We specialize in producing a diverse array of premium quality roses, ensuring that every bloom we grow meets the highest standards of quality. The Job
We are looking for Production and Post-Harvest Management Graduate Trainees to join our Production and Post-Harvest Departments. This is a one-year program.
Your Role
Reporting to the Production Manager and Post-Harvest Manager, the key results areas for these roles are;
I. Both roles
- Plan staffing, monitor staff performance, plan and oversee training to ensure daily staff target achievement is optimized.
- Ensure that the industry code of practice is observed and necessary certification acquired/renewed.
- Ensure Health and Safety is maintained to ensure safety of staff and environment
- In the spirit of KAIZEN, ensure all SOPs are continuously reviewed and improved to optimize efficiency.
- Perform any other duties allocated by the management.
II. Specific to Production
- Ensure crop production meets the budget on number of exportable stems.
- Ensure crop production meets the set budget on average length of exportable stems.
- Ensure crop production is below budget on rejection percentage.
- Monitor and report any nutritional challenges to the irrigation team and your supervisor.
- Ensure crop husbandry is carried out correctly and timely.
- Ensure maintenance related challenges such as blown plastics, leakages, etc are reported and followed up to ensure they are sorted promptly.
- In liaison with the Production Manager prepare weekly production forecasts
III. Specific to Post -Harvest
- Ensure that flowers are graded and exported according to customer specifications.
- Monitor and manage the cold-chain to optimize flower vase life and quality.
- In liaison with the production department, prepare weekly shipment forecasts and share with shipping agents.
- Keep daily stem reconciliation record.
- Study daily grade out summaries to track quality levels.
Qualifications
- The applicant must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Horticulture, Agronomy or other related Agriculture course.
- One must be a fresh graduate from a renowned higher institution of learning; not more than one year after university graduation.
- High level of integrity and honesty
- Proactive and fast learner
- Good communication skills
- Must be a team player
