Department Overview

The Data and Analytics team is the backbone of Jacaranda Health, providing evidence for impact, design and scale of our solutions. We pride ourselves on being innovative, technically adept, creative problem solvers. Our data is designed to be used- it informs internal operations and strategic directions, and it drives decision making and prioritization for our external partners, such as the government.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Data Documentation Intern to support our team in strengthening our data infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with a background in data science, analytics, or information systems who is looking to apply their knowledge in a mission-driven environment. The primary focus will be to populate our data dictionary tables with metadata, ensuring we have complete documentation of all variables, indicators, and product flows.

This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with data architecture and industry-standard tools while contributing to real-world impact within a tech-forward and mission -driven organization.

What You’ll Do

• Become familiar with our tech and data architecture and products
• Organize and populate data dictionary tables with missing or incomplete data.
• Ensure all variables, indicators, and product flows are fully documented and aligned with our data governance standards.
• Work with the Data & Analytics, Product and Tech teams to validate data accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with teams to identify missing metadata

What we are looking for

Minimum level of academic and professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Some prior experience with data analytics, data management, or data engineering (internship, coursework, or project experience accepted).
• Working knowledge of data architecture concepts and database management.
• Comfortable using platforms such as DBeaver, Redshift, AWS, RapidPro, and Salesforce.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Passionate about leveraging data for social impact.

Location: Nairobi, Kenya.

Contract Duration: 6 Weeks

Compensation: Ksh 75,000
