Veterinary Trainee (Chicken Focus)

Location: Nairobi/Thika
Experience: Entry level / Final year student or recent graduate in Veterinary Medicine
Reports to: Quality Assurance Lead – Poultry

Job Purpose:

To support the veterinary and quality teams in maintaining humane, hygienic, and regulatory-compliant handling of poultry across the value chain.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in ante- and post-mortem inspections.
• Monitor animal welfare compliance and humane slaughter practices.
• Enforce hygiene protocols during processing.
• Collect samples for testing and maintain proper documentation.
• Participate in audits, incident reporting, and regulatory training.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

• Compliance with meat hygiene inspection requirements.
• Timeliness and accuracy of sample submissions.
• Animal welfare incident rate.

Expected Reports:

• Daily Inspection Log.
• Welfare Audit Checklist.
• Sample Collection and Testing Report.
