Role: Public Policy & Research Support Intern
CLASSIFICATION: Internship
REPORTS TO: The General Manager
COMMENCEMENT DATE: July 2025
Period: 1 year
The Kenya Property Developers Association is the representative body of the residential, commercial and industrial property development sector in Kenya. It is a Business Member Organization which works in proactive partnership with policy-makers, financiers and citizens to ensure that the property development industry grows rapidly but in an organized, efficient, economical and ethical manner.

Are you passionate about the built environment, research and advocacy? If yes, then we’re looking for you! The KPDA is looking for an individual to support our team with various tasks. The Intern is an essential member of the KPDA secretariat dedicated to support research and policy work.
Our ideal candidate should be an individual willing to learn, capable of working in a team as well as autonomously. He/she should have (demonstrable) excellent communication skills, be well-organized, confident, and knowledgeable in statistical and research tools. If this describes you, we would like to meet you.
YOUR KEY DELIVERABLES
The successful candidate’s duties shall be to:
- Provide support to research and development carried out that is of interest to KPDA members;
- Engage in policy and advocacy work;
- Provide input to legal drafting and developing policy papers;
- Liaise with external organizations, both public and private;
- Filing, record keeping and general organization of documents;
- Where necessary, assist in the preparation for the Public Policy and Advocacy Committee and its Working Group meetings;
- Where necessary, assist in the preparation for meetings with affiliate/ partner organizations;
- Any other duty as advised by the assigned supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Degree in Quantity Survey, Real Estate, Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning, Public Administration and Policy, Legal studies, Development studies, Statistics, Economics and any other related qualifications. Someone undertaking research at PhD or Masters level would be advantageous
- Understanding of property development, real estate and the construction industry in general
- Good understanding of county and national governments in the context of political, social and economic factors
- Research and Analytical skills
- Public liaison capabilities
- Legal and policy training as an added advantage
- Ability to work independently and as part of small team
