The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a state corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.
Research Assistant – Nairobi
Key responsibilities
- Support in ensuring that the study adheres to industry and governmental rules by monitoring regulatory changes
- Assist the Study coordinator in developing and implementing compliant policies conducting internal regulatory compliance audits, preparing reports,
- Liaising with regulatory authorities.
- Assist in identifying potential regulatory compliance issues, mitigating risks
- Managing the study relationship with regulatory bodies
- Support in coordinating the development and update of regulations in the study
- Support in conducting reviews and coordinates documents across the study
- Support in ensuring familiarization of people in the organization with regulations through training
- Assist in developing and tracking system for managing regulatory compliance with studies approval bodies
- Any other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Vacancy Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services or Health System Management
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PPT, Microsoft 365 and Outlook)

- Ability to work with multi-skilled teams.
- Analytical and report writing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
