Esquire Consultants Limited client is one of the fastest-growing continental agribusiness companies with a passion for poultry and an offering that ranges from eggs to frozen chicken and feed to day-old chicks. Currently, the Kenyan operation’s focus is on Day-Old Chicks & animal Feeds. The company seeks to hire a dynamic, go-getter, results-oriented, and hands-on Maintenance Intern responsible for installing, maintaining & repairing all Hatchery equipment and machinery as per SOPs and based on the Maintenance Team Roster.

Internship Stipend : Kshs 20,000 Gross.
Number of Positions: One (1) Position
Placement: Immediate
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Attends to the maintenance Of Hatchery equipment & machinery as per SOPs & Bio-Security standards.
- Follow up & implement the weekly maintenance schedule and report any faults with the Supervisor.
- Conduct daily checks on generators and ensure adequate fuel is available.
- Conduct checks on Hatchery equipment and machinery as per SOPs.
- Conduct bi-weekly checks on Setter and Hatcher machines and perform calibration before and after loading of eggs under the supervision of the Hatchery Manager.
- Report electrical equipment and machinery issues immediately.
- Raise Internal Requisitions to order spares needed to maintain equipment and send them to Assistant Hatchery Managers for approval.
- Receive training from various skilled individuals on an ad-hoc basis.
- Prepare reports as per the Report Matrix.
- Attend meetings as per the Meeting Schedule.
Attends to repairs on Hatchery machinery & equipment as required.
- Attend to all critical jobs affecting production or the smooth running of Hatchery activities.
- Communicate with relevant company technical individuals to solve specific issues.
- Get notified day & night when breakdowns occur.
- Specify electrical components and materials.
- Conduct regular maintenance checks and repairs on electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement corrective actions promptly.
Assist with the installation of all new Hatchery equipment & machinery.
- Receive notifications & diagrams from the Hatchery Manager of any new machinery arrival.
- Ensure the available space required for new equipment is cleared to receive it.
- Communicate with various company-skilled individuals to assist with instalment of new equipment.
- Communicates with the Superior to witness test runs.
Ensure Hatchery team complies with company QA, SHE, GHPs (Good Hygiene Practice), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practice), and all other company SOPs & statutory regulations, and expected Company behaviours at all times.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes.
- Ensure 100% compliance with SOPs.
- Follow up on all QA NC issues and close cases within a reasonable time frame.
- Ensure all company reporting deadlines are met.
- Ensure all bio-security procedures are followed.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALITIES
Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field, a Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in the use of Auto CAD or similar design software (a plus).
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in an industrial or agricultural setting.
- Experience with PLC programming and automation systems is highly desirable.
Experience Required
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and OneNote.

- Experience with troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment, including motors, controls, and lighting systems.
- Data Driven Decision Making: Proven ability and track record of using data to drive insights and inform effective decisions at all levels of the organization.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, and control systems.
- Proficiency in using electrical design software and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance in electrical operations.
