The African Professionalisation Initiative (API) is a partnership between Accountants General, Professional Accountancy Organizations and Supreme Audit Institutions whose core objective is to professionalise accounting and auditing in the public sector in Africa.

Position: ICT Innovation Interns Pool
Location: Remote (Hybrid Flexibility)
Organisation: African Professionalisation Initiative (API)
Purpose: To build a talent database of tech-savvy interns to support API’s digital projects

Role Overview: Innovation Driven & Experience Rich

Successful applicants will be part of an agile talent pool, eligible to receive short-term, high-impact assignments with API and its partners. You will contribute to building digital tools, platforms, experiences, and services that support governments and public institutions to deliver efficiently, ethically, and at scale.

Key Work Domains

  • Website UI/UX Optimisation: Improving the design, speed, interactivity and accessibility of the API website and microsites
  • App Development & Maintenance: Designing, coding, testing and deploying mobile apps for internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • AI Agents & Automation” Building chatbots, virtual assistants, and smart agents to support learners, clients, and partners
  • Software-Defined Customer Experience: Creating tools that enhance user experience in public sector-facing platforms
  • Branding, Thumbnails & Flyer Design: Crafting high-quality visuals, event graphics, social media content and digital brochures
  • LMS Modernisation & EdTech Integration: Integrating AI plugins into Moodle or other LMS to improve learner personalisation and analytics
  • Other Digital Projects: Tasks including data visualisation dashboards, integrations, DevOps tools and cybersecurity modules

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or final-year student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, UI/UX Design, AI/ML, Information Systems, or similar field
  • Portfolio or evidence of projects delivered (GitHub, Behance, Drive folder, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time around flexible deliverables
  • Demonstrated interest in public good, digital governance, or African development
