Intern Position

Duty Station: Kisumu & Embu, Kenya

Reports To: Program Officer

Duration: 3 Months

Purpose of the Job:

The Project Technical Intern will support the agricultural projects team in implementing field activities, providing technical assistance to farmers, and contributing to data collection, training, and documentation.

The role is designed to give the intern practical exposure to agricultural project management and farmer support services while enhancing project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in field activities, including farmer mobilization, training, and extension support.
  • Support the collection and management of field data, including farmer profiles and project monitoring indicators.
  • Provide technical assistance in crop production practices, postharvest handling, and value addition initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of training materials, field reports, and documentation of project activities.
  • Support in the organization of farmer meetings, workshops, and demonstrations.
  • Participate in monitoring visits, surveys, and evaluation exercises.
  • Provide administrative support to the project team, including printing, scanning, filing, and report preparation.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor to support project implementation.

Educational Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness or related field.
  • Basic understanding of agricultural production systems and extension services.
  • Knowledge of data collection tools and basic data analysis is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Previous internship, volunteer work, or project-based field experience in agriculture is desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Flexibility to travel to field sites as required.
