INDUSTRY: FURNITURE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING
SALARY: KSHS. 40,000 – 50,000 NET
JOB SUMMARY
The junior designer will assist the lead designer in defining client(s) order requirements, creating furniture drawings and providing quality control support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Study design briefs and determine requirements in liaison with the design and sales teams.
- Generate sample designs using computer-aided design (CAD) and hand sketches where needed.
- Prepare furniture production drawings using Archicad or Sketchup.
- Use appropriate colours and layouts for each drawing to match the product description.
- Amend drawings or designs after client(s) feedback.
- Provide support to the production team in ensuring designs are implemented as per the drawings provided.
- Assist in quality control inspection of items in production from start to finish.
- Study and maintain product knowledge from the company catalogue and emerging design trends.
- Assist in showroom product arrangement and ensure items are always stocked.
- Manage the upholstery department and schedule upholstery works as needed.
- Any other duty as assigned by the lead designer or management
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a wood-working setup, furniture workshop or timber manufacturing workshop
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) – knowledge in Archicad modelling would be an added advantage
