Financial Analysis Temporary Assistant at Capital Markets Authority (CMA)

The Capital Markets Authority is a statutory agency charged with the responsibility of regulating and developing an efficient capital market in Kenya. The Authority invites applications for the following position:

TEMPORARY ASSISTANT – FINANCIAL ANALYSIS _ 1 POSITION

Reporting to Senior Financial Analyst and will be responsible for conducting analysis and interpreting financial and other information of license applications by market intermediaries, exchanges and other products to be licensed by the Authority to ensure compliance with the Capital Markets Legal and Regulatory framework and other applicable standards.

Contract Period: Six (6) Months Fixed Term Contract

Key responsibilities:

  1. Comparing financial statements submitted to the Authority by licensees with those published on daily Newspapers and highlighting any inconsistencies
  2. Reviewing financial statements of licensees and approved institutions for indicators and incidents of financial fraud, fraudulent market operations and recommending administrative and legal sanctions in line with CMA requirements
  3. Reviewing of audited and other periodic financial statements of market intermediaries and approved institutions to assess continued compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other applicable standards; Maintaining and updating databases relating to financial data, analysis reports and conduct trend analysis.
  4. Undertake research on new developments in accounting, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and licensing practices to ensure application of lead practices in review of applications.
  5. Implementation of quality management system and continuously identifying and managing risks within the division.
  6. Preparing Management, Technical Committee and Board reports on Financial Analysis matters under consideration
  7. Collecting and collating information to be used in developing of the Department’s Work plan and budget.
