The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is a business membership organization representingover 1000 leading manufacturing and value-added companies in Kenya.

The Agriculture for Industry (A41) initiative is a business-led program under the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), focused on strengthening agricultural value chains to support import substitution, small holder farmer empowerment, and increased local sourcing of raw materials. A4l fosters partnerships between farmers, private aggregators, and off takers to create sustainable market linkages, improve productivity, and reduce post-harvest losses.

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a motivated and analytically minded intern to join the Agriculture for Industry (A41) team in implementing transformative value chain projects. The intern will support research, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and project coordination, with a focus on priority value chains including tomatoes, avocados, cotton, edible oils, leather, dairy, and BMC, among others.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Maintaining an observatory on national, regional and international developments that impact on industry.
  2. Assist in data collection and analysis for selected value chains (e.g., tomatoes, avocados).
  3. Support the development of farmer extension programs on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  4. Contribute to market research on demand-supply dynamics, export opportunities, and import substitution.
  5. Help draft reports, case studies, and policy briefs for advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
  6. Participate in field visits and stakeholder meetings with farmers, aggregators, processors, and county governments.
  7. Support the monitoring and evaluation of A4l interventions and impact metrics.
  8. Write both weekly, monthly and quarterly A41 reports

Requirements

Recent graduate or final-year student in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related fields.

Personal attributes and skills:

  • Strong interest in agricultural development, value chains, and market systems.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of Kenya's agricultural sector is an advantage
