KEMRI is seeking a creative and driven Corporate Communications Officer to join their team in Nairobi. The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established in Kenyain 1979 through the Science and Technology (Repealed) Act, Cap 250 of the Laws of Kenya, Science Technology and Innovation Act, 2013 and currently under KEMRI Order 2021 as the national body responsible for carrying out research in human health in Kenya.KEMRI's vision is "to be a leading Centre of excellence in human health research" and its mission is "to improve human health and quality of life through research, capacity building and service delivery"

CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, JOB GROUP KMR 6-1 POSITION

Job Specifications

  1. Write and edit content (press releases, newsletters, website copy, speeches, reports) i.
  2. Create social media content (posts, captions, campaigns) ii.
  3. Ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all platforms
  4. Plan, script, and storyboard video projects
  5. Shoot high-quality video footage (events, interviews, campaigns, promotional content)
  6. Operate cameras, lighting, audio, and related equipment
  7. Set up and manage video shoots independently
  8. Edit video content using professional software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  9. Add graphics, subtitles, music, and visual effects
  10. Ensure videos align with branding and communication goals
  11. Optimize videos for different platforms (social media, website, YouTube, TV)

Person Specifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree in any of the following: Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Film Production, or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution
  2. Membership to Professional body such as Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK). Media Council of Kenya (MCK) or Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ); Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) where applicable.
  3. Proficiency in computer applications

Terms of employment: This is a one (1) year contract, renewable subject to availability of funds, with a probation period for the first 3 months.

Successful candidates will be required to provide the following: Certificate of good conduct, Higher Education Loans Board compliance certificate, KRA Tax compliance certificate, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission clearance.
