The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), or Office of the Ombudsman of Kenya, is a constitutional commission established under Article 59(4) of the Constitution and the CAJ Act of 2011. It tackles maladministration (abuse of power, unfair treatment, delay) in the public sector and enforces the Access to Information Act, 2016.

REPORTING TO: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, INTERNAL AUDIT & RISK
DEPARTMENT: INTERNAL AUDIT & RISK UNIT

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: ONE-YEAR CONTRACT
DUTY STATION: NAIROBI

Your Role

Duties and responsibilities for this position will entail:

  1. Assist in undertaking audit assignments and preparing detailed audit observations and reports
  2. Participating in carrying out institutional risk evaluation, and efficiency audit
  3. Assist in conducting financial and systems audit
  4. Participating in developing and updating of internal audit manual;
  5. Assist in carrying out audit inspections of CAJ's records
  6. Assist in auditing of systems and processes
  7. Assist in carrying out audit checks and identifying any accounting errors
  8. Assist in collecting data on periodical financial returns, estimates and expenditure
  9. Assist in examining vouchers, cashbooks, ledgers confirming the propriety and accuracy of the transactions
  10. Assist in Auditing annual accounts
  11. Any other duty assigned by the Commission from time to time

Requirements

For appointment to this position, a candidate must have;

  1. Bachelor's degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

CLEARANCE/COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATES
Successful candidates will be required to provide copies of clearance or compliance certificates.
