Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) is a regional umbrella body that brings together national human rights institutions. NANHRI has been in operation since 2007. Our 47 members are drawn from NHRIs across Africa. The NANHRI Secretariat is based in Nairobi, Kenya

Position: Finance and Administration Intern

The Finance and Administration Intern will support the Finance and Administration Department of NANHRI in day-to-day financial operations, administrative tasks, and overall office management to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Support

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Prepare payment vouchers for both petty cash and bank transactions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Support the preparation of monthly financial reports by scanning and organizing supporting documents.
  • Assist in petty cash management.
  • Help prepare financial documentation for audits.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Posting petty cash in Quick books.
  • Prepare monthly reports.

Administrative Support

  • Organize and maintain office files, records, and databases.
  • Assist with inventory management and the procurement of office supplies.
  • Manage communications, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and handling correspondence.
  • Ensure the smooth running of daily office operations.
  • Support in organizing and coordinating events, workshops as needed.
  • Support in bookings for flights and hotel accommodations for activities.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Must have at least CPA Part I.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) is an added advantage.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive and willing to learn.

Duration

The internship will run for Six (6) months.
