JAYSUR COGNITIVE MANAGEMENT LIMITED client, a real estate company, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Associate to support the Group Legal Counsel in delivering legal, compliance, and governance services across the organization. The role combines legal administration, contract and litigation support, regulatory compliance, stakeholder coordination, and legal research. The successful candidate will ensure legal documentation, regulatory requirements, and governance frameworks are properly managed and maintained.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Support & Administrative Duties

  • Oversee internal legal administrative functions, including documentation, filing systems, and correspondence management.
  • Maintain and update the legal document database and assist in drafting routine legal documents under supervision.
  • Support the development, implementation, and periodic review of organizational policies to ensure legal compliance.
  • Track and follow up on internal compliance checklists and legal action items.

Stakeholder Liaison & Coordination

  • Liaise with external stakeholders including law firms, surveyors, government agencies, and other third parties as directed by the Group Legal Counsel.
  • Coordinate logistics and documentation for meetings, court appearances, and regulatory filings.

Litigation & Dispute Management Support

  • Maintain an up-to-date litigation tracker covering ongoing cases, court dates, outcomes, and legal fees.
  • Organize and manage legal records including pleadings, rulings, court orders, and settlement agreements.
  • Assist in preparing litigation briefs and compiling case documentation for internal and external counsel review.
  • Track litigation timelines, deadlines, and correspondence relating to active cases.

Contract & Document Management

  • Maintain a comprehensive contract register for all group entities.
  • Assist in drafting basic contracts, NDAs, and legal correspondence under supervision.
  • Support review and organization of title documents, leases, sale agreements, and charge documents.
  • Ensure proper execution, filing, and safekeeping of legal agreements and instruments.

Debt Recovery Monitoring

  • Assist in drafting and maintaining the Group debt recovery policy.
  • Maintain debt recovery tracking reports in coordination with business units.
  • Monitor debt recovery litigation matters and provide progress updates.
  • Liaise with external counsel and collection agencies on recovery strategies and timelines.

Regulatory & Compliance Support

  • Support filing of statutory documents and company registry requirements.
  • Assist in company registrations, title conversions, and regulatory approvals.
  • Maintain corporate registers in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Track licenses, approvals (including NEMA, NCC, NCA), and renewal requirements.
  • Maintain databases for zoning applications, title registrations, and project compliance requirements.

Legal Research & Advisory Support

  • Conduct legal research to support internal advisory needs.
  • Summarize new laws, regulations, and legal updates relevant to the organization.
  • Prepare simplified legal briefs and notes for internal stakeholders.

Training & Capacity Building Support

  • Coordinate internal legal training sessions, including preparation of materials and attendance tracking.
  • Deliver training on topics such as labour law, contract management, and compliance requirements.

Strategy & Governance Support

  • Prepare initial drafts of standard Board Charters and governance frameworks.
  • Support engagement with governmental and regulatory bodies on legal and compliance matters.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law (or equivalent) and admission to the Bar will be an added advantage.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a legal, corporate, or commercial environment.
  • Experience in litigation support, contract management, or regulatory compliance is preferred.
  • Strong legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
