Key responsibilities also include
- Teach theoretical and practical aspects of ECDIS, ARPA, and RADAR systems.
- Conduct simulator-based training sessions and real-time scenario exercises.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW and Model Courses
- Guide students through certification requirements and operational competencies.
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback for improvement.
- Support students in understanding integration of electronic navigation systems with bridge operations.
- Develop and update training modules to reflect current technologies and regulatory changes.
- Ensure integration of safety, situational awareness, and decision-making skills into the curriculum.

- Marine EngineeringDuties and responsibilities;
- Teach courses in marine propulsion systems, thermodynamics, electrical systems, hydraulics, and shipboard maintenance.
- Conduct practical training in engine room simulators and workshops.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments aligned with IMO STCW standards.
- Guide and mentor students in academic and professional development.
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback for improvement.
- Support students in preparation for certification exams and onboard training.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the marine engineering curriculum.

- Maritime safetyDuties and responsibilities;
- Develop and deliver training programs on maritime safety, including:
- STCW safety courses (e.g., Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, First Aid)
- Risk assessment and hazard identification
- Emergency preparedness and response
- Safety management systems (SMS) and ISM Code compliance
- Conduct classroom and practical training sessions using modern instructional techniques
- Evaluate trainee performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Maintain and update training materials in line with regulatory changes and industry best practices
- Support audits and inspections related to safety training and compliance
- Maritime SecurityDuties and responsibilities;
- Develop and deliver maritime security training courses in line with ISPS Code and STCW requirements.
- Design comprehensive maritime security training modules.
- Conduct classroom and field-based instruction on ISPS Code compliance, Port facility security, Shipboard security operations, counter-piracy and anti-terrorism tactics, risk assessment, emergency response and risk mitigation among others.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime security trends, threats, and best practices

- Aiding trainers in training activities by navigating training vessels and ensuring crew and boat safety.
- Identifying and addressing technical faults
- Executing drills as directed by the trainer
- General maintenance of the vessels and auxiliary equipment
- Ensure the boat is properly equipped with mandatory and serviced firefighting equipment, lifesaving appliances and personal protective clothing at all times.
- Keeping and maintaining records of all activities.
Qualification
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Nautical Science, Marine Navigation, or related field.
- Coxswain I Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Marine Engineering or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in, Maritime Transport and Logistics, or its equivalent in a relevant field.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nautical Science, Marine Navigation, or related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ sea service and prior teaching or training experience in a maritime institution is highly desirable
