The Busia County Department of Health and Sanitation, with support from the U.S. Department of State (DOS) through the Dumisha Afya Project, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the vacant positions listed below in health facilities supported by the project.
The appointments will be on one (1) year contract terms, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and the continued availability of funding:
MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST III, JOB GROUP ‘H’ – ONE (1) POSITION, ADVERT NO: 03/2026
Location(s): BUSIA COUNTY REFERRAL HOSPITAL
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collecting blood samples from patients/clients.
- Receiving, collecting, labeling, and registering specimens,
- Performing routine analytical processes.
- Disaggregating specimens for processing and analysis; and performing routine diagnostic tests.
- Collecting and documenting data for monthly reports.
- Coordinating all laboratory activities as per established SOPS
- Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and for accuracy,
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board;
- Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)
- Valid practicing license from Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board; and
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Have experience in TB/HIV care and treatment.
- GCLP training and knowledge of the NASCOP EID/VL system will be an added advantage.
- Additional training relevant to HIV Care & Treatment will be an added advantage.
- Have good communication, organization, and computer skills, hardworking, and reliable.
- Have shown competence and ability in organizing, performing, and discharging duties and responsibilities.
