The Maa Trust is a non-profit organization based in community-owned conservancies in the Maasai Mara, Kenya. We work to increase the benefits of wildlife and conservation to Maasai families so that they appreciate, and contribute to the protection of, wild animals on their land, and we aim to unite communities by involving them in conservation at a management level.
Job Title: Intern Maa Bead-Work
Location: The Maa Trust Headquarters
Reports To: Maa Bead-Work Production Manager
Duration: Six months (June-November 2025)
Job Purpose:
Maa Beadwork is seeking a motivated intern to support the documentation and digital cataloging of our handmade products. The intern will be responsible for creating product cards for over 200 unique bead-work items, detailing photographs, materials used, techniques, and associated costs. They will also update the personalized labels for all 468 women artisans in the programme.
Key roles and responsibilities:
- Create accurate and visually appealing product cards for each bead-work item
- Photograph finished products and format images for internal use
- Document materials, techniques, and costing for each product
- Update and maintain individual artisan records and labels
- Support other IT or documentation tasks as needed
- Support in other bead-work activities as and when needed, including stock take, shop attendant, hosting of guests, etc
Qualifications and Skills:
- Fluency in Maa (spoken)
- Advanced computer literacy (especially Excel, Word, basic design or layout tools)
- Attention to detail and ability to organize information clearly
- Interest in or appreciation of Maasai bead-work
- Priority will be given to applicants from the local area
