Job Grade: BMA 6
Basic Salary Scale: Kshs. 71,500 – Kshs. 140,500 p.m.
House allowance: Kshs. 20,000
Commuter allowance: Kshs. 14,000
Leave allowance: Kshs. 4,000
Terms of service: Pensionable
Reporting to: Principal Corporate Communication and Marketing Officer

Job Specifications:

Reporting to the Principal Corporate Communication and Marketing Officer, the Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of the institution’s communication and marketing strategies. The Officer will be responsible for delivering communication and marketing activities in adherence to the provisions of the institutional policies, Legal Notice No. 233 of 28th November 2018, and any other relevant national legislation to corporate communication, branding, stakeholder engagement, and public relations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail assisting in: –

1. Drafting publications on topical issues as well as speeches
2. Drafting speeches, briefs, press supplements, releases and feature articles
3. Screening media and publications touching on the Bandari maritime academy
4. Responding to ad-hoc queries from the public
5. Drafting communication to external and internal public

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade the candidate must have;

1. Bachelor’s degree Communication Studies; Mass Communication; Journalism, Public Relations; Information Science, International Relations, Social Sciences or any other approved equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
2. Proficiency in computer applications;
3. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.

Successful candidates will be required to submit valid compliance certificates from Kenya Revenue Authority, Ethics and Anti- Corruption, a registered Credit Reference Bureau, Higher Education Loans Board and a certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations before commencement of the employment contract.
