Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development is a Non-Governmental Organization that does policy advocacy for gender equality.

The Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development is looking for suitable candidates to fill the position of a cook in a Child Care Centre in City Park, Parklands Nairobi County.

The candidates will be reporting to the Child Care Administrator

Tasks and Responsibilities

 The Cook shall perform the following among other duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare the budget for the kitchen in consultation with the Administrator as appropriate
  • Preparation of balanced and healthy meals for the children.
  • Ensuring that the prepared meals are served on time.
  • Keep regular inventory of kitchen equipment and supplies and re-ordering stock as needed.
  • Ensuring that cooking utensils are clean before and after use.
  • Cleaning food preparation areas and ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the kitchen.
  • Ensure proper storage of food supplies.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor from time to time

Qualifications and Experience Requirements

 High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary school or cooking certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a cook in a professional kitchen environment. Experience in food preparation for large groups such as schools or daycare centers, is preferred.
  • Experience in menu planning and meal preparation for children is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety principles, and proper sanitation practices.
  • Familiarity with a variety of cooking equipment and kitchen tools.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
