About NYOTA Project

The National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) project is a landmark initiative by the Government of Kenya, funded by the World Bank, aimed at transforming the lives of vulnerable youth. Over five years, NYOTA will create employment opportunities, enhance income generation, and promote savings among the youth population.

On-the-Job Experience (Workplace Learning) Intake Alert

This component focuses on providing apprenticeship and employment opportunities for youth across various trades. We work with master craftsmen and employers to ensure that participants gain the technical skills they need to secure sustainable employment.

NYOTA Project is offering young Kenyans an opportunity to learn through real work experience (On-the-Job Experience – OJE intervention), get a certificate and benefit from a safe and easy saving plan. Get placed in real work environments, gain and sharpen skills, build confidence, and increase your chances of getting employed.!

Key Points:

  • Duration: The apprenticeship lasts 5 months, combining on-the-job training with mentorship from industry experts.
  • Trade Selection: Participants can choose from various trades within digital, creative, green, blue, and grey economies.
  • Certification: Upon successful completion, participants receive formal recognition of their skills through Trade Testing assessment by NITA.
  • Job Placement: The program aims to place participants into formal employment or help them establish themselves as independent artisans.
  • Support System: The program includes social-emotional skills development, covering areas such as communication, leadership, and financial literacy.
  • Partnerships: Collaborates with industry leaders like the Kenya Association of Manufacturers and Kenya Film Services for placements and mentorship.

Who can Apply?

Age:
18-29 years and up to 35 for Persons with Disabilities

Employment Status:
Unemployed, in low-income or vulnerable job

Location:
Youth from all 47 counties, including refugees in Garissa and Turkana

Education:
Form 4 level of education or below.
