Sun King is hiring an Aftersales Intern in Kenya. You coordinate between shops and the aftersales team, manage escalations, and ensure timely resolutions. You also train staff on warranty policies and assist with system upkeep and inventory. Sun King is a leading off-grid solar energy provider in Kenya that designs, distributes, installs, and finances solar home systems and appliances. It serves homes and businesses without reliable grid electricity, offering pay-as-you-go (PAYG) financing via “EasyBuy” and operating, formerly as Greenlight Planet, with over 440 shops in Kenya.

About the role:

The aftersales Intern will act as the primary POC between Sun King shops and the aftersales function. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless after-sales assistance for all Sun King Shops by coordinating escalations, driving awareness of warranty policies and after- sales processes, enabling continuous training, and ensuring shops are operationally equipped with adequate spares stocks and system assistance. This role will contribute directly to improved shop performance, reduced customer service TAT, enhanced customer satisfaction, and compliance with after-sales operational standards.

What you would be expected to do:

Shop Assistance & Escalation Management

  • Act as the primary administrative and operational POC for all Sun King Shop after-sales escalations.
  • Ensure timely resolution and closure of all customer and shop escalations originating from Sun King Shops, Call Centers, and field teams
  • Ensure all escalations are accurately logged, tracked, followed up, and resolved within agreed SLAs
  • Provide day-to-day after-sales assistance to Sun King Shop Executives

Customer Satisfaction & Field Team Enablement

  • Drive warranty policy awareness across Sun King Shops through structured communication and trainings
  • Coordinate regular training sessions for Shop Executives and field teams on; warranty policies, after-sales processes/initiative and system usage.
  • Assistance onboarding and refresher training for new and existing shop executives on a need basis.
  • Proactively identify recurring shop issues, communicate insights and recommend corrective actions.

System Assistance & Process Optimization

  • Serve as the liaison between Sun King shops and aftersales operations for shop-facing aftersales and spares-related matters.
  • Assist with regular SOP reviews and updates for shop related aftersales processes.
  • Assist with automation initiatives and the rollout of new tools or system enhancements to shops.
  • Conduct regular system health checks for aftersales related processes and tools.
  • Assist with audits, reviews, and internal assessments related to shop aftersales performance.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in assistance of departmental goals.

ย Evaluation and reporting

  • Proactively monitor shop-level aftersales trackers and performance dashboards, recommending improvements with evolving business needs.
  • Track shop performance trends, recurring issues, and training needs on after-sales related metrics.
  • Prepare and share monthly performance reports and insights on shop-level after-sales metrics.

Data Integrity & Inventory Management (Shop-Facing)

  • Ensure 100% alignment between physical inventory and system records for spares and warranty-related stock at the shop level.
  • Coordinate regular inventory reconciliations for shop spare parts and warranty replacements.
  • Monitor shop spare parts stocking levels and proactively flag shortages, overstocking, or aging stock.
  • Assist with shop-related inventory initiatives, including spare parts replenishment, returns, and system clean-ups.
  • Maintain accurate reports on shop spares inventory levels, movements, consumption and aging.

About you

You would be a strong candidate if you have:

  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in any relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 yearsโ€™ experience in aftersales assitance, operations, customer service, or field coordination roles.
  • Very strong data skills
  • Very strong customer and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong evaluation and reporting skills, with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred), ticketing tools, and dashboards is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work alone and as a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous process improvement.
