DURATION: 3 Months (Renewable Once)

REPORTS TO: Technology and Human Rights Manager.

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this assignment is to support the delivery of policy and research projects under Amnesty Kenya’s technology and human rights program. The successful candidate will join our Technology & Human Rights team working to strengthen data governance in Kenya and on digital rights for children and young people.

You will be required to work in teams, multitask and work to deadlines, sometimes under pressure..

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Tech & Human Rights Officers, Researcher, Communications Unit, and relevant IS global thematic staff.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Tech & Human Rights Intern will:

  • Support the delivery and implementation of impactful technology & human rights programs.
  • Support the design and delivery of qualitative and quantitative research projects in data governance and digital rights.
  • Support on data analysis, visualization, and reporting to support evidence-based advocacy efforts.
  • Support in designing imaginative and authoritative knowledge products on data governance and digital rights.
  • Undertake scheduling of technology and human rights meetings, workshops, appointments, and other related activities.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for program related activities and requirements.
  • Attend program related activities and draft reports.
  • Perform other tasks as may be reasonably assigned..

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least a first degree in law or human rights.
  • Excellent research, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of technology and human rights.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and administrative skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with human rights NGO work is desirable but not required.
